PCT Mission

The PCT provides advice to the AFCEE, EPA, and MassDEP Remedial Project/Program Managers (RPMs) of the Installation Restoration Program. The PCT provides advice on the cleanup of resources, on and off base, affected by contaminants from the MMR under applicable state and federal laws and regulations and on related community involvement issues.

The PCT has the following objectives:

  • To review and provide advice on IRP investigations and the sufficiency of data available to make informed decisions.

  • To expedite the restoration of the Upper Cape’s groundwater by reviewing and providing advice on feasibility studies, proposed plans, remedial designs/remedial actions, and other pertinent documents, for groundwater plumes and source areas.

  • To protect the Upper Cape’s natural environment, including ponds, streams, and wetlands by reviewing and providing advice on proposed actions.

  • To compare installed treatment system performance to the remedial goals and objectives established in the Records of Decision (RODs) and to provide advice on improvements, as necessary, in the performance of treatment systems once they are in operation.

  • To help formulate strategies to keep the public informed and involved.

  • From time to time, provide input on other basewide environmental issues of concern.
