Create an advisory group.

Comments

  • Need regular representation, including regulators
  • Other teams have full plates and should have one group to focus on nutrient issues
  • Local knowledge and expertise with folks who attend for just pond focused meetings

2. What is the mission of the group?

Accepted: The Ashumet Pond Nutrients Advisory Group (APNAG) provides comments and advice on proposed AFCEE actions for reducing phosphorus inputs to Ashumet Pond from the former MMR wastewater treatment plant.

3.How would the group like to report to AFCEE, public and regulatory agencies?

  • Group to reach consensus for comment/advice submittal to AFCEE
  • Group reports to public through group meetings (summary notes)
  • Group reports to regulatory agencies by communicating to them while they are at the meetings

4. Who would membership include?

  • Limited membership of group with open discussion for all attendees
  • Evaluate membership as group meets during the summer months to see if need to re-think membership requirements or limitations. Number of neighborhood groups should not be limited.

Comments:

  • Would like to see aggressive advertisement of group especially to other smaller neighborhood groups like Holly sands and Otis trailer park residents
  • Invite groups listed in 2/17/2000 AFCEE recommendation letter
  • Invite Mashpee Watershed group, Sierra Club, APCC, Trout Unlimited

5. Who would Co-Chair the group?

No Chair, would like Lana Brodziak to facilitate

6. How often would the group like to meet? (made clear that group is intended to be short lived)

  • Every two weeks during the summer and re-evaluate in the fall
  • 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month to ensure Mashpee Conservation Commission attendance

  • Present/Discuss details of proposed actions, (including P. inactivation and geochemical barriers and other approaches considered [feasibility evaluation])
  • Update of success of inviting others to the meeting, review pond mailing list
