The origins of the Air Force's Plume Cleanup Team went back to 1993
when the Plume Management Process Action Team was formed. In later
years the team made several transitions until members from the Public
Information Team (PIT), Joint Process Action Team (JPAT), and Long
Range Water Supply Team (LRWS) were integrated in 2001 to create the
Plume Cleanup Team.
The team provides technical and community involvement advice on the cleanup of
contaminants. The PCT meets on the second Wednesday of the month on an as-needed basis.

"The Army Environmental Command at MMR also supported a citizen advisory
team called the Impact Area Review Team (IART). In May of 2008 both
the PCT and the IART began meeting jointly to cover the issues of the
Air Force's Installation Restoration and the Army's Impact Area
Groundwater Study Program. In September 2008 the joint meeting name was
changed to the Massachusetts Military Reservation Cleanup Team (MMRCT)

The team meetings provide a forum for community input regarding issues
related to the Installation Restoration Program, which is primarily
focused on the environmental cleanup on the southern portion of the
base, and the Impact Area Groundwater Study Program, which is
responsible for the environmental cleanup of the northern 15,000 acres
of Camp Edwards. For more information and base access, contact Doug
Karson at 508-968-4678, ext. 2 at the Installation Restoration Program
or Lori Boghdan at 508-968-5635 at the Impact Area Groundwater Study
Program." |
