RELEASE 2002-10 MASSACHUSETTS MILITARY RESERVATION, Cape Cod, Mass. — Officials of the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) announced today that the Plume Cleanup Team (PCT) will meet on Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at 6:00 p.m., at the Cataumet United Methodist Church, 1097 County Road in Cataumet.The Plume Cleanup Team is a citizen advisory team that provides technical and community involvement advice to the AFCEE Installation Restoration Program (IRP). The IRP is the organization responsible for groundwater and soil cleanup on the southern portion of the Massachusetts Military Reservation. This month’s meeting will address the Landfill 1 plume, which affects areas of groundwater below Cataumet, and the Southwest Operable Unit plumes, which affect groundwater just south of the base in the Hatchville area of North Falmouth. Three source areas on the base - Coal Yard 1, located in an area east of Turpentine Road, Coal Yard 3, located at the intersection of East and West Hospital Roads and the Chemical Spill 8, located near the Coast Guard Transmitter Station off Greenway Road, will also be discussed.
