Plume Cleanup Team Recruiting New Members

Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR), Cape Cod, Mass. — Officials of the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) announced today that it is recruiting new members from Bourne and Sandwich to join the Plume Cleanup Team.

The Plume Cleanup Team (PCT) provides advice to AFCEE, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) on the cleanup of soils and groundwater affected by contaminants from the Massachusetts Military Reservation under the federal Superfund law and other federal and state laws and regulations.

“An increase in citizen involvement at MMR will bring more talent and insight to the process which will result in a cleaner environment for Cape Cod.”    Sue Walker, Sandwich PCT member.

The PCT also advises on community involvement issues related to the Installation Restoration Program’s cleanup efforts. The PCT meets on the second Wednesday evening once a month at various locations in the Upper Cape area.

“Here is a great opportunity to help your community. I have enjoyed learning about the wonderful work the Air Force is doing to resolve the many issues of pollution. If you want to understand and help, join the PCT.”    Bill Locke, Bourne PCT member.

If you are a resident of Bourne or Sandwich and would like to become an active member of
