2003-37 Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR), Cape Cod, Mass. Officials of the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) announced today that the Plume Cleanup Team (PCT) will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2003 in the multi-purpose room at the Oak Ridge School, 260 Quaker Meeting House Road in East Sandwich. The PCT is a citizen advisory team that provides advice to the regulatory agencies and the AFCEE Installation Restoration Program (IRP). The IRP is the organization responsible for groundwater and soil investigation and cleanup on the southern portion of the Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR). The main agenda topic at the November PCT meeting is the Fuel Spill 12 (FS-12) groundwater plume. The presentation will include information on the 2002 annual report, results of a human health and ecological risk evaluation, and various alternatives for final plume cleanup decisions. The FS-12 plume is located near Snake Pond in the Forestdale section of Sandwich. The public is encouraged to attend this meeting and interact with members of the citizen advisory team, as well as representatives of AFCEE, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
