Public Invited to the January PCT Meeting

Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR), Cape Cod, Mass. — Officials of the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) announced today that the Plume Cleanup Team (PCT) will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at the Quashnet Valley Country Club, 309 Old Barnstable Road, Mashpee.   

The PCT is a citizen advisory team that provides advice to the regulatory agencies and the AFCEE Installation Restoration Program (IRP). The IRP is the organization responsible for groundwater and soil investigation and cleanup on the southern portion of the Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR).

A meeting topic includes a presentation on the 2002-2003 Ashumet Valley Plume Annual Report. The Ashumet Valley plume is located in Falmouth. Other meeting topics include brief updates on the Landfill 1 (LF-1) plume; and construction of treatment systems for the Chemical Spill 4 (CS-4), CS-20, CS-21, and FS-29 plumes.

The public is encouraged to attend this meeting to interact with members of the citizen advisory team, as well as representatives of AFCEE, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
