Military Reservation (MMR), Cape Cod, Mass. Officials of the Air Force Center
for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) announced today that the Plume Cleanup Team (PCT)
will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at the Falmouth Holiday Inn on 291 Jones
Road. The PCT is a
citizen advisory team that provides advice to the regulatory agencies and the AFCEE
Installation Restoration Program (IRP). The IRP is the organization responsible for
groundwater and soil investigation and cleanup on the southern portion of the
Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR). The main
meeting topics are Fuel Spill 12 (FS-12) feasibility study alternatives to reach a final
Record of Decision (ROD), an Ashumet Pond Iron Barrier Project, which is planned for
summer 2004, and results of a multi-plume drive point sampling project. The public is encouraged to attend this meeting to interact with members of the citizen advisory team, as well as representatives of AFCEE, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
