2004-21 MASSACHUSETTS MILITARY RESERVATION, Cape Cod, Mass. Officials
from the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) announced today that the
Plume Cleanup Team (PCT) will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at the
Coonamessett Inn, 311 Gifford Street in Falmouth. The PCT is a
citizen advisory team that provides advice to the regulatory agencies and the AFCEE
Installation Restoration Program (IRP). The IRP is the organization responsible for
groundwater and soil investigation and cleanup on the southern portion of the
Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR). The main
meeting presentations are the Fuel Spill 12 (FS-12) Annual Report and Storm Drain 5 (SD-5)
Annual Report. Two other meeting presentations focus on the Ashumet Pond geochemical
barrier installation, which occurred in August 2004, and various Landfill 1 (LF-1) cleanup
alternatives. Other meeting
topics include brief updates on an additional site investigation for the FS-13 source area
and the CS-4, CS-20, CS-21, and FS-29 groundwater construction project. The public is
encouraged to attend this meeting to interact with members of the citizen advisory team,
as well as representatives of AFCEE, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and
the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). To obtain an agenda in
