2005-01 MASSACHUSETTS MILITARY RESERVATION, Cape Cod, Mass.
Officials of the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) announced today
that the Plume Cleanup Team (PCT) will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at
the Bourne Best Western, 100 Trowbridge Road in Bourne. The PCT is a
citizen advisory team that provides advice to the regulatory agencies and the AFCEE
Installation Restoration Program (IRP). The IRP is responsible for groundwater and soil
investigation and cleanup on the southern portion of the Massachusetts Military
Reservation (MMR). One of the
main meeting presentations will be the Fuel Spill 28 (FS-28) Annual Report. The FS-28
plume is located in Falmouth and has been undergoing remediation with a groundwater
extraction, treatment, and surface water discharge system since October 1997. The
presentation will include an update on the treatment system, major findings for both
groundwater and surface water portions, and recommendations. Other meeting
topics are PCT comments on the proposed plan for interim action of groundwater monitoring
for the Chemical Spill 19 (CS-19) plume located on the MMR and results from the CS-23
plume investigation in Falmouth. The public is
encouraged to attend this meeting and to interact with members of the citizen advisory
team, as well as representatives of AFCEE, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),
and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). To obtain an agenda in
