2005-16 MASSACHUSETTS MILITARY RESERVATION, Cape Cod, Mass.
Officials of the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) announced today
that the Plume Cleanup Team (PCT) will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at
the Falmouth Holiday Inn, 291 Jones Road, Falmouth. The PCT is a
citizen advisory team that provides advice to the regulatory agencies and the AFCEE
Installation Restoration Program (IRP). The IRP is responsible for groundwater and
soil investigation and cleanup that is, in most instances, on-and-from the southern
portion of the Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR). The main
meeting topic is an update on the Fuel Spill 12 (FS-12) groundwater plume. The FS-12
groundwater plume is located in Sandwich and has been undergoing active remediation with a
groundwater extraction, treatment, and reinjection system since 1997. Another
meeting presentation focuses on test results of private wells, ponds and harbors. Other meeting
topics are updates on the leading edge of Fuel Spill 28, the Chemical Spill 23/Landfill 1
feasibility study process, and a presentation on the proposed plan for dealing with the
Eastern Briarwood/Western Aquafarm/Storm Drain 5 projects. The public is
encouraged to attend this meeting to interact with members of the citizen advisory team,
as well as representatives of AFCEE, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and
the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). To obtain an agenda in
