2005-26 MASSACHUSETTS MILITARY RESERVATION, Cape Cod, Mass. -
Officials of the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) announced today
that the Plume Cleanup Team (PCT) will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at
the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 840 Sandwich Road, Falmouth. The meeting will
be preceded by a posterboard event at 5:30 p.m. on the latest investigation results of the
Fuel Spill 28 Groundwater Plume in Hatchville. Both events are open to the public. The PCT is a
citizen advisory team that provides advice to the regulatory agencies and the AFCEE
Installation Restoration Program (IRP). The IRP is responsible for groundwater and
soil investigation and cleanup that is, in most instances, on-and-from the southern
portion of the Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR). The main meeting topic is an update on the investigation of the
leading edge of the Fuel Spill 28 groundwater plume in Falmouth. Ashumet Pond is the focus of an update presentation on AFCEEs
efforts to reduce the amount of phosphorus entering the pond from the Ashumet Valley
groundwater plume. The public is
encouraged to attend this meeting to interact with members of the citizen advisory team,
as well as representatives of AFCEE, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and
the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). To obtain an agenda in
