MASSACHUSETTS MILITARY RESERVATION (MMR), Cape Cod, Mass.Officials of the Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment (AFCEE) announced today that a joint meeting of the Plume Cleanup Team (PCT) and Impact Area Review Team (IART) will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at the Bourne Best Western, 100 Trowbridge Road, Bourne.  The public is invited to attend.

 

The teams recently agreed to start meeting together to cover environmental cleanup issues in both the Air Force and Army programs as a way to streamline the process and maximize the expertise of the team members.   Members provide advice to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, the AFCEE Installation Restoration Program (IRP) and the Army Environmental Command Impact Area Groundwater Study Program.  The IRP is responsible for groundwater and soil investigation primarily in the southern portion of the Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR) while the majority of the Army work is in the northern 15,000 acres.

 

Scheduled agenda items include updates on:

  • Chemical Spill 10, Chemical Spill 23 and Landfill 1 Groundwater Plumes
  • Ashumet Valley Plume Feasibility Study Alternatives
  • Southeast Ranges Plumes (J-1 and J-2 North, J-2 East, J-1 South, and J-3)
